What is Cascara?
Cáscara is the outer husk of the coffee cherry. The pulped skins are collected after the seeds are separated from the coffee cherries, sun-dried and then brewed In a fashion similar to loose-leaf tea. At Hiregudda Estate, the Cáscara is obtained from the ripened, deep-red coffee cherries harvested on the enchanting nights of the Full Moon amidst charged positive energies and a conscious, intentional ritual of collective, high-vibrational chanting Cáscara, one of nature's true superfoods, is replete with beneficial anti-oxidants and possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing and immune-fortifying properties, in addition to being an eco-conscious and sustainable sip. Although Cáscara contains caffeine, the percentage is a quarter of the content in black coffee, making it an ideal drink for those amongst us seelding a lighter caffeinated beverage.

What is Specialty Coffee ?
Specialty Coffee is the term given to premium coffee grown under the most meticulous care at the right elevation, the right temperature conditions and excellent soil. The coffee is then carefully picked and harvested at just the perfect time. When licensed Q Graders (CQI) and certified coffee tasters (SCAA) grade the coffee, Specialty coffee typically scores 80 points or above. It is the highest quality of coffee available in the world.

How best can I brew APD Coffee ?
APD will customise the grind size upon order. We will grind it very fine to be used for moka pot or expresso. We will grind it fine for filter coffee. We will grind it moderately coarse for French Press or the Channi method. Additionally the medium coarse grind will work for the Pour Over and Chemex method.

How best can I brew APD Cascara ?
APD Cascara can be brewed just like loose-leaf tea over a stove top for around 8 minutes. Alternatively, the results are also excellent when brewed using a french press, keeping in mind the steep time ideally at 8 minutes.

What is the best way to store Coffee ?
The best way to keep ground coffee or whole beans fresh is to keep it away from light, heat, moisture and air. The APD packaging comes with a well-thought through contraption of a de-gassing valve. The degassing valve is a one-way vent that allows coffee beans and ground coffee to slowly release carbon di-oxide and other volatile gases from the bag without coming into contact with the air outside. Upon opening the bag, you will only need to tightly clip the bag after each use.

Does the addition of medicinal mushroom extracts alter the flavor profile of the coffee ?
No, not at all. There is absolutely no taste nor aftertaste of any mushrooms in the mushroom extract added coffee ! You will only get the tasting notes of the coffee.

When will I receive my order ?
Since we roast the coffee in small batched every week, you will receive a fresh order within a week of its placement.

What is the grind size of the coffee ?
The grind size can be customised upon order. If you are used to a moka pot for brewing, we will have it ground to a very fine size. We will grind it moderately coarse if you prefer to use French press.

We roast the coffee freshly in small batches every week.

Ideally, for consumption in a day, we recommend drinking just one serving of the coffee with added mushroom extracts.
